Encourage your students to take the National Survey of Student Engagement!

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is administered annually to a random sample of 2,000 first-year students and 2,000 seniors on our campus.  We need your help in encouraging students to participate in this year’s NSSE.  We cannot directly email students who have are in the sample, however, we can send out a general reminder to first-year students and seniors encouraging them to participate if they received the survey.  Would you be willing to forward the information below to the first-year students and seniors you interact with?  Thanks for your help and please don’t hesitate to contact me or Megan Penfield (kula@mailbox.sc.edu) in the Office of Institutional Assessment and Compliance if you have any questions.FOR DISTRIBUTION TO STUDENTS:

Hello, freshman and senior Gamecocks!

Have you recently received an invitation asking you to participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) from Dr. Dennis Pruitt? If you have, great news for you! If you complete this short survey by Friday April 26, you will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for one of 10 gift certificates from vendors such as Moe’s, Yoghut and the Russell House bookstore (values ranging from $5 – $100).

Winners will be notified via email during the week of April 29. The survey takes most students less than 15 minutes to complete and provides important data regarding student experiences at the University and their involvement in beyond the classroom activities. If you are uncertain whether you have been selected to take the survey, look back in your email inbox for an e-mail from NSSE inviting you to participate on February 12.

Participation in the survey is entirely voluntary; however, by participating, you will be helping the University improve undergraduate student experiences.  In addition, you will be entered into a drawing to receive free gift certificates! We really need your help.

If you have any questions about the survey or how to access it, please feel free to e-mail Megan Penfield of the Office of Institutional Assessment and Compliance at kula@mailbox.sc.edu. Thank you for your time!
