Keep Calm with Guided Imagery and Progressive Muscle Relaxation May 2

Stress affects us mentally, physically and emotionally—and can seriously undermine academic performance! This is why Campus Wellness has launched Keep Calm, a new program that brings stress management services to students at times and locations convenient to them.

Spring 2013 Keep Calm activities include:

— Pet Therapy
— Guided Imagery and Progressive Muscle Relaxation
— Biofeedback Sessions and One-On-One Consultations with a Health Educator

Summer Mindful Monday sessions—develop inner health and well-being!  

Want to improve your focus and attention, lower your blood pressure or simply learn how to become a more centered, grounded person? You’re invited to Mindful Mondays, free, on-campus sessions open to all students, faculty and staff. All sessions begin with a short introduction to the day’s practice and time to connect as community. No special equipment or attire is required. Bring your own mat, blanket, sitting cushion or props to support your practice. No registration is required. Simply come to the McBryde F building behind the Thomas Cooper Library and look for the Healthy Carolina conference room. Sessions take place May 6, June 10, July 8 and Aug. 5 from 12:15 – 1 p.m. Marguerite O’Brien, Student Health Services Campus Wellness Director, facilitates. Call 803-576-9393 for more information.

Whole Foods June 26 Grocery Store Tour registration now OPEN

Campus Wellness is offering its popular Grocery Store Tour service June 26 at Whole Foods! Come learn to navigate any grocery store, interpret food labels, spot marketing and packaging gimmicks and get the most nutritional bang for your buck. After you take a Grocery Store Tour with Campus Wellness Registered Dietitian Lisa Money, you’ll never shop the same again. All students, faculty and staff are invited to this fun, free event. Whole Foods Market is located at 702 Cross Hill Rd. The tour will take place from 4 – 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26. Registration is required at or 803-576-9393.


On-campus AA Meetings Mondays & Wednesdays

The Student Health Services Collegiate Recovery Community is offering Alcoholics Anonymous meetings Mondays and Wednesdays year-round on campus beginning. Monday meetings take place 8 – 9 p.m., and Wednesday meetings take place from noon – 1 p.m. Both take place in the Byrnes room 705. Meetings have an open format and are open to all students, faculty, staff and community members. For more information, call 803-777-5223.

Healthy Carolina is pleased to offer new, healthy eating options for USC faculty, staff and students: On-Campus Produce Delivery. Healthy Carolina is partnering with two, locally-owned produce delivery companies, Pinckney’s Produce and AFRESH! Produce Delivery that will bring fresh produce right to USC’s Columbia campus.
