Global education is not just for students. Faculty and staff at the University of South Carolina can learn, teach, research and live overseas, with the help of the Study Abroad Office.
Focus Carolina is committed to Leadership, Diversity, Global Competitiveness and Community Engagement. In support of these goals, the Study Abroad Office is offering the second annual International Perspectives on Higher Education program for University faculty and the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support staff.
The spring break program in Italy will provide participants with:
– The chance to observe four typical study abroad sites in Italy, each with integrated intern, leadership development, and service learning opportunities.
– The opportunity to “live the student study abroad experience” while participating in a faculty-led study abroad program, gaining exposure to Italian culture and how such a program operates “on the ground.”
– A theoretical understanding of the differences between the higher education systems of the United States and Europe via a comparative, reflective approach.
Applications are now open for the program and are due by November 1. To apply and for more information – including what last year’s participants had to say, visit the program website at http://www.studyabroad.sc.edu/iphe. Questions about International Perspectives on Higher Education may be directed to Jennifer Engel, Executive Director of Global Learning, at email@example.com or Jimmie Gahagan, Director of Student Engagement, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additionally, the Study Abroad Office provides resources to faculty hoping to identify their own professional development opportunities overseas.
