On Thursday, November 7th, EMPOWER will be hosting a Diversity Dialogue titled, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Throughout this diversity dialogue we will focus on the tale of a poor black woman whose cells, taken without her knowledge, have changed the world of medicine since the 1950’s. Henrietta Lacks’s cells have been bought and sold all around the world but despite these contributions, the story of her life is unknown while her family struggles to afford health insurance. Join us for lunch and dialogue at 12 PM in Russell House Ballroom C as we uncover the intersections of race, ethics, medical experiments, and family. Participants can preregister for the dialogue here, https://sawebdev.wufoo.com/forms/diversity-dialogue-registration/, to receive a free copy of book and learn about the life of a woman who has forever left a legacy in the world of medicine.
