The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs is proud to announce the date for our annual Diversity Retreat! This retreat takes 50 students away for an all-expenses paid retreat to learn about diversity, social justice and social change. A large component of this fantastic experience is that of the small group facilitators adding their knowledge to the event! Every year we take several faculty and staff to deliver an intentionally designed curriculum in small group settings with approximately 8-10 students. Applications for facilitators will be available soon. In the meantime, please note that the retreat this year will be March the 28-30! If you have any questions regarding the retreat please feel free to e-mail Gavin Weiser at email@example.com, or he can be contacted via phone at 777-4806.
Previous facilitators have said this about the retreat:
This retreat is a keystone of my experience at Carolina. Getting to know students on a personal and deep level is certainly a highlight. Though staying up late and playing games is certainly a fun experience as well! – 2010 Retreat Facilitator
Facilitating the Diversity Retreat was one of my favorite professional experiences. During the retreat I was able to bond with several students and provide them with the opportunity to learn more about themselves and how to excel in a diverse world. This is a life-changing experience for not only the students but also the facilitators. – 2011 Retreat Facilitator
Serving as a Diversity Retreat facilitator was an unforgettable experience! It gave me an opportunity to meet students with whom I would not normally interact (both from USC and Columbia College). Our time on the retreat gave us reason to consider our own identities, bond as a small group, interact with the larger group and challenge perceptions and norms. Witnessing my group think critically about their own identities and share powerful stories, was a touching a moving experience. – 2012 Retreat Facilitator
