USC Omega Phi Alpha hosts Polar Run benefitting Salvation Army

Omega Phi Alpha will be hosting a Polar Run event to benefit the Salvation Army at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, on Greene Street.

Registration will occur on the day of the event, starting at 8:00 a.m.

This is a FREE 5K, and the only requirement is that each participant wear 12 additional pieces of clothing (on top of their usual running attire) that they will donate during the run. These pieces of clothing can be anything from hats to t-shirts.

What: The Polar Run is a five kilometer, on-campus run in which participants begin wearing many layers of donated clothes. As the participants run, they will shed their extra layers down to their normal running attire.
Why: This event will not only provide a large amount of donated clothing for the underprivileged in the Columbia community, but will also give students the opportunity to empathize with others who are less fortunate.
