University of South Carolina student Eric Villeneuve’s father, Tom, recently was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma called Sézary Syndrome. Tom needs a life-saving stem cell transplant, and Eric is asking the Carolina community to help by participating in a donor drive to find a transplant match.
The donor registry drive will be held 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 in the Russell House Ballroom. Be the Match staff will swab the inside of each participant’s cheek, a procedure that takes only a few minutes and requires no needles. Participants should register so that organizers will have adequate supplies at the drive.
People who are out of town during the drive can still be tested and included in the drive for Tom by emailing GetTestedForTom@gmail.com.
