Students, faculty and staff encouraged to apply for Dobson Volunteer Service Program funding

USC students, faculty and staff are encouraged to apply for funding to complete meaningful faith-based community service and make a positive impact in communities in the U.S. and around the world through the Dobson Volunteer Service Program.
Participants are selected through an application and interview process and can receive up to 50 percent of the needed funding for the trip. In addition, they must demonstrate the ability to raise the remaining funds. Some students may earn independent study academic credit for the service, and students interested in this opportunity should consult with their academic advisors.
Most of the Dobson-funded service trips take place during the university’s fall and spring breaks, May Session and during the summer. After the trip, participants are required to submit a personal reflection and give at least 10 presentations to USC students, civic groups, religious groups and/or local schools about their service experience.
To apply for funding for trips scheduled between May 11 and Dec. 31, 2014, students should submit an application, current transcript and three letters of recommendation to the Department of Student Life, located in Russell House, Suite 115, by Friday, March 28 at 4 p.m. For more information and to access the application, visit
