A former policy planner from the State Department in New York declared that “women still can’t have it all” after she found that her desire to be with her family trumped trying to juggle a high-level government job, despite her feminist values she previously held fervently.

Both entrepreneurs and policymakers are examining why people share information with firms that earn a revenue from it and evaluating if there could be a better way. In 2014 new regulations and start-ups will overturn the traditional approach to privacy. Individuals will be encouraged to place an economic value on their personal data, creating an entire market for them.
