Since the release of the Dear Colleague Letter in April 2011, college and university campuses nationwide have taken bold steps to educate and respond to sexual violence on their campuses. Proactively moving forward with new policies and procedures to address sexual assault, campuses are still faced with complex questions regarding how to effectively implement their new policies and stay aware of new laws and best practices.
Join the Victim Rights Law Center and the Clery Center for Security On Campus for a one-day training providing easy-to-use, practical implementation tools for the new Department of Education and White House Task Force materials, the recent amendments to the Clery Act as a part of the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization and the intersections of compliance between the Clery Act and Title IX.
You will learn from litigators, victim advocates and compliance experts on how to maintain a balanced approach to adjudicating sexual assault and rape cases.
Sessions will focus on:
-The Clery Act (The VAWA amendments to Clery, compliance challenges, coordination for prevention and response)
-Title IX (Implementation problems, policy examples, and best practices)
-Navigating Title IX and Clery Act Intersections – where to begin
-Trauma-informed care and cultural competency
