Wear denim to raise funds, awareness for sexual assault prevention

Observed each year at UofSC, Denim Day began after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the judges believed that the victim’s jeans were too tight to have been removed without her consent. Wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. Employees within the Division of Student Affairs & Academic Support are encouraged to donate $5 to their HR contact to wear denim on Wednesday, April 22 with proceeds going to Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands. HR contacts will send the money raised directly to Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands after April 22.
